Watershed-Reef Connectivity Study: Ishigaki Field Activities (Summer 2006) †
We conducted various field survey activities in Ishigaki Island (Okinawa, Japan) aimed at exploring the connectivity of Shiraho Reef and the adjacent land (i.e. Todoroki watershed and other nearby coastal land). The activities include watershed nutrient discharge monitoring and measurement of nutrient and microalgal concentrations in the reef, among other things.

In situ continuous nutrient monitors deployed near Todoroki River mouth to continuously monitor dissolved nutrient concentrations
Investigating soil characteristics in Todoroki watershed through soil pit surveys and soil sampling in farm lands
Water sampling during low tide in the reef area
We measured concentrations of benthic microalgae in Shiraho Coast using a spectrofluorometric benthic microalgae monitor.
