We developed microsatellite markers and analyzed 10 populations from Japan and one population from Fiji. As a result, we found no isolation-by-distance pattern among Japanese populations implying that gene flow is greater than gene drift. Besides numerical simulation suggested that there may be appreciable larval dispersal by unsteady ocean and coastal currents.
