Nadaoka Lab. - Field Survey on Tsunami disaster in Thailand
Tsunami devastation occurs in the morning of December 26th, 2004. It pummels 12 countries surrounding India Ocean causing thousands of deaths and unqualified economic losses. The west side coasts of southern part of Thailand are among the most severe impacted area and selected as survey sites.The laboratory main interests are focused on two areas ; (1) the onshore physical damages of life and properties along the beaches, and (2) under water physical damages and the possible future impacts of the coastal habitats, particularly on the mangrove forests, seagrass beds and coral reefs.
