"State of Manila Bay-Tributary River-Lake System : Problems and Conditions"

The Group is planning to write a draft of a comprehensive document or report which can serve as a source book and provide benchmark information for further studies of the group. This document or report may contain the following items

  1. Manila Bay-Tributary River-Lake System - Geographic Setting

  2. Physical Characteristics (climate, watershed, hydrology, ocean processes and tides, water quality, sediments and lahars

  3. Biological Characteristics and Aquatic Resources (natural habitats, biological communities, aquatic resources)

  4. Demographic and Economic Characteristics (brief history, population, urban and rural developments, economic development)

  5. Management and Institutional Arrangement (political boundaries and jurisdictions, national and local government, regulatory agencies, development agencies

  6. Coastal and Inland Resources Management (water projects such as domestic water supply, irrigation, flood and river control, hydropower and fisheries; other coastal and marine projects)

  7. Water Quality and Sedimentation Aspects (pollution issues, nature and behaviour of pollutants, pollutant loads and disposal, lahar and sediment transport, pollution and sediment control management; other coastal and marine aspects

  8. Future Directions (research agenda, monitoring, modeling, management approaches)
